Empowering Choices: An Evening with Author Hillary Podritz at Open Arms

On November 16, from 4-7 pm, Open Arms is honored to host Minnesota author Hillary Podritz, a seasoned early childhood educator and mother of four. Hillary penned down her rich experience in ‘Making Good Choices at School,’ a book aimed to help parents and teachers positively prepare children for school.

Her philosophy deviates from the traditional labeling of “naughty” or “bad” when addressing children’s decisions. Instead, she places the power of choice in each child’s hands, empowering them when they make good choices and providing a learning curve, not a defeat, when they make poor ones. In her words, “there’s always another opportunity to make a good choice.”

The event schedule is as follows:

  • 4:00-6:00 pm: ‘Making Good Choices at School’ will be available for purchase in the Open Arms lobby.
  • 5:00-6:00 pm: Parents are invited to engage with Hillary as she shares her ‘Good Choices, Pour Choices’ philosophy.

This is not just a book reading, but an interactive session that emphasizes the partnership between parents and school in helping children be successful. It’s a chance to delve into a discussion on how a positive framework can significantly impact a child’s experience at school.

We heartily encourage families to join us, especially during the discussion hour from 5-6 pm, to explore how we can collaboratively work towards nurturing a positive environment for our children both at home and school.

We look forward to an enlightening evening filled with constructive discussions and insights that can pave the way for fostering a supportive atmosphere for our young ones.

Blessings,
